Sportsman’s Park,
Graceville, Florida |
|
This grainy photo of Sportsman’s Park, taken from center field, shows the tiny grandstand
and the pressbox perched on top of it. The current day photos below show how small this park really was. |

The former home of the Graceville Oilers was torn down years ago. It’s a shame,
but many of the people that I talked to in Graceville did not know that there once was a team in their town. Fortunately, I found a nice lady who remebered the location of the stadium. This is all that remains today of Sportsman’s Park. The property is now owned by the local electric company, and transformers now occupy the grandstands were baseball fans once sat. The grandstand was small, only four to six rows deep. Many fans would bring lawnchairs and sit along the lines or in the outfield. |

The view from where third base once was. Just above the trees behind the grandstands
is the Golden Peanut processing mill. G. W. Morrow owned the mill and the team. |

The entrance to the electric cooperative that uses the remains of Sportsman’s Park
as a storage area. The white & grey wall in the distance is what’s left of the historic ballpark. |
