The 1946 All Star Game
The 5th league All Star game was played on July 15th. The game was played in Troy because the Trojans snuck into first place on the day (July 8th) that the all star sight was to be determined. As in 1939, the format was the league leader against everyone else. Troy had a very short stint at the top, but was there when it counted. They made the best of their luck, winning an exciting all star contest, 11-10. The hero was Troy manager, Norm DeWeese, who hit a pinch-hit homer in the 8th. The Trojans batted around, and DeWeese’s homered for the second time in the inning. |
